Around Duras
The village holds events all year, and markets on Monday and Wednesday. From July to early September additional events include weekly live music and a night market where the village becomes an open-air restaurant with an impressive choice of regional cuisine and local wines.
Other nearby villages have differently themed night markets and several of the farms and vineyards have open days.
The local wine, Côtes de Duras is similar to the neighbouring Bordeaux region. The region is dotted with pretty medieval fortified villages (bastides) with long histories connecting France and England and with a variety of grand châteaux .
The large rivers of the Dordogne and Garonne are nearby and make good holiday excursions for river trips and canoeing.
